Our Story

When Spencer and I started Behrens-Curry Homes, it was based in a shared passion for building and rooted in a friendship that has spanned three decades. While taking different paths early in our career, we both developed important skills for the business. Spencer started in building with a 4 year apprenticeship as a union carpenter. He went on to mentor under a Master-Builder and worked his way up to a project lead building custom homes. After graduating college, I went to work for a developer and managed tenant improvements for large commercial and retail projects. During these years, we both learned how to coordinate the multiple parties that result in a successful build. Then in 1998, Spencer earned his contractor's license and in 2001 we opened up the doors to Behrens-Curry Homes.

Our company's premise was simple: build world-class homes and provide the best service in the industry. We saw an opportunity to not only provide a superior product, but to improve the client experience throughout the build. For us this begins with hiring employees, subcontractors, and suppliers that are committed to building excellence and share our core values of integrity. We then apply a building process that starts long before we break ground.

During initial planning we take the time to understand each client's needs while resolving open items in the plans. When we break ground, we are focused on execution as opposed to discovery. During the build, our full time management helps to ensure each project outcome while reducing the stress associated with large building projects. The proof of our success is based largely in a business that has grown each year by client referral.

We continue to be students of building whether through research and use of new products, taking architecture classes, or attending build conferences. In 2007, we both earned the certification of Certified Green Building Professional from "Build it Green". This is an integral part of our business as we strive to make a positive impact in our community where we work and live. When we're not building homes or spending time with family, you might find us making concrete counters, playhouses for our daughters, or designing custom furniture for our own homes... Thank you sharing in our story and we welcome the opportunity to serve you!
